Plan, Platform, & Policy Positions

Being a Libertarian candidate, I can undoubtedly anticipate facing tough questions on issues where my stance may be seen as unconventional, especially by Republican and Democratic voters. To begin with, there are three major  issues  that my campaign proposes responses to in capturing the interest of undecided voters from the two major parties:

1. Public Welfare Programs: Critics may challenge Libertarian candidates on their views regarding government-funded social safety nets. To address this, I emphasize my belief in a balanced approach that respects individual liberty and the importance of providing help to those in need. I would propose measures to make existing programs more efficient and less prone to abuse, while encouraging private-sector and community-based solutions to complement government programs. These reforms could appeal to Republicans seeking greater efficiency in public spending and Democrats concerned about social justice.

2. Military and Defense Spending: Libertarian candidates are often questioned about their stance on defense spending. I would assert that while national defense is a crucial role of government, we should strive for a lean, efficient military that genuinely serves our national defense needs rather than engaging in endless overseas conflicts. This message would resonate with Republicans' patriotism, fiscal conservatism, and Democrats' anti-war sentiments and desire for defense budget reallocation.

3. Public Health Measures (e.g., Vaccine Mandates, Lockdowns): Given the emphasis on individual liberty in the Libertarian philosophy, issues like vaccine mandates or lockdowns could be challenging. Here, I stress the importance of individual choice, personal responsibility, and the availability of information. I believe in fostering an environment where people can access all necessary information to make informed decisions about their health rather than mandating specific actions. This approach could strike a chord with Republicans valuing personal freedoms and Democrats emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making. In each case, the goal is to show that a Libertarian approach can offer practical solutions, blending the best aspects of the principles championed by Republicans and Democrats while respecting individual liberty, valuing HIPAA, protecting citizens, and minimizing government overreach.

The Issues Important to Floridians

  1. Climate Change and Environment: Florida faces numerous environmental challenges, including rising sea levels, coastal erosion, and damage to the Everglades. The impact of climate change on the state's coastlines and overall environment is a critical concern.

  2. Hurricane Response and Preparedness: While government plays a role in disaster response, community and private-sector initiatives are crucial to supplementing these efforts. I propose increased collaboration with private companies and non-profit organizations to improve our preparedness and responsiveness to hurricanes.

  3. Healthcare: We should strive to reduce the government's role in healthcare to foster competition, lower prices, and increase quality. This includes deregulating the health insurance market, allowing Florida residents to purchase plans from any provider regardless of location, and promoting price transparency in healthcare services.

  4. Economy and Jobs: The key to a prosperous economy lies in free markets and minimal government intervention. By reducing taxes, decreasing regulation, and fostering an environment that welcomes businesses, we can spur job growth and economic development in Florida.

  5. Education: I believe in the power of school choice. Parents should be free to choose the educational options that best suit their children's needs. This could include public, private, charter, or homeschooling options. Competition and choice will drive improvements in our educational system.

  6. Infrastructure: Rather than relying solely on government for infrastructure improvement, we should encourage private sector involvement, incentivizing businesses to invest in our state's infrastructure. I also support rigorous but fair safety regulations to ensure public safety.

  7. Immigration: As Libertarians, we see the value immigrants bring to our state and economy. We advocate for simplified, secure, and reasonable immigration processes, focusing on addressing the problems of illegal immigration at the source rather than punishing individuals seeking a better life.

  8. Gun Control and Safety: I uphold the right of individuals to bear arms as protected by the Second Amendment. However, I also believe in promoting responsible gun ownership, including thorough background checks and education programs, to ensure public safety.

  9. Housing and Cost of Living: To address housing affordability and cost of living, we should reduce excessive zoning laws and building regulations that drive up housing costs. We also need to encourage a strong and competitive job market that will help raise living standards.

  10. Racial and Social Justice: Libertarians uphold the principle that everyone has equal rights under the law. I believe in criminal justice reform, including ending the War on Drugs, promoting sentencing reform, and reducing recidivism. I also stand firmly against any form of discrimination and believe that any issue of voter suppression should be addressed fairly and transparently.

As a Libertarian, my focus is on empowering individuals, reducing government intervention, and promoting freedom and personal responsibility. Together, we can make Florida a place where freedom thrives, and individuals are empowered to live their best lives.
